The International Fashion Film Festival has evolved into an annual global marketplace for the fashion film community. Over 80 movie shorts screening over 3 days will be scouted by Hollywood and international agents and distributors, as reknowned filmmakers fly in from all over the World to see and be seen! 
 
August Getty comes from illustrious Los Angeles roots (he is the great-grandson of J. Paul Getty), and his LA Fashion Show kicks-off with 500 Invitation-Only VIP guests being dropped at an undisclosed location for a sit-down dinner, before venturing into the a sexy futuristic end-of-world dystopia scene designed by David LaChapelle.  Arriving on the Western town backlot at Universal Studios, Hollywood the first thing guests see is a car crash surrounded by beautiful bare-breasted models and featuring the happy clapping gospel choir "Renda & The Shine Your Light Choir" created by LaChapelle especially for the event, singing the Michael Jackson classic “Man in the Mirror” and later other gospel songs “Testimony” and “Oh Happy Day” .



With the world famous Universal Studios, Hollywood backlot as their set, the event is part-fashion show part-installation dreamed up by August Getty Atelier in collaboration with world famous photographer and Award Winning Director David LaChapelle . LaChapelle now lives in Hawaii, and only comes into town for special jobs here and there such as his recent music video with Britney Spears, so this opportunity to film his work was indeed a rare and special occasion . The collection features Getty’s skin-toned, body-hugging designs, with cut-outs revealing bare breasts. A huge Getty Oil logo a reminder of the designer’s family background next to a shrine of candles and religious icons. Even Getty's sister Nathalie is seen as one of the models in the little shops with her hand pressed against the windows to reveal a tattoo that says ‘Lady Getty”.


This short BTS Film is Directed & Edited by British Director Jane S. Linter and gives fans and newcomers to David's work a rare and exclusive close-up peep behind-the-scenes of such an icon. The documentary  “Thread of Man” has been nominated for Best Documentary, Best Editing (by Linter) and best Music at this year’s La Jolla, International Fashion Film Festival. The Festival is now in it’s 7th year and has featured such lengendary icons of fashion as Zandra Rhodes,  Versace, Gucci, and Tom Ford. The LJIFFF provides a great opportunity for the international fashion community to get together, network, and see each others work over 3 days of events, deal making and parties. It’s like the Cannes Fashion Film Festival on the French Riviera set in beautiful La Jolla CA.
